Danielle newspaper report

 Christmas day football
Last week on christmas day, during war time. The british and Germans had a football Match, On no mans land. The soldiers had an unprepared football match in the middle of a battle field, during the great war.

That Morning the soldiers had a full cooked breakfast and were greeted by thousands of sparrows flying above the trenches. They received Presents such as: OXO Cubes, Khaki hankicheives, including presents from Princess Mary and a card from the King And Queen. Later in the morning a German soldier came and planted a Christmas tree on no mans land., one of the british soldiers shook hands with him and was followed by a few others. There was no Bombs and some of them were singing carols, One of the soldiers gave haircuts to a few other soldiers.

Then out of no where a football bounced across the icy mud. A British soldier kicked it to a few Germans. There was no Referee, unknown numbers on each team, and no count of the score. the players were half ice skating half Football, as it was Frosty, snowy and icy, making it harder to stand up!

The players said that the officers were not happy. "it wasn`t suppose to be a friendly meeting, therefore if they did it again they would be shot!" said a british officer!
The players enjoyed the match, they said it was fun!
" Hitler told us we needed to kill the Brisrish, but afterwards it was hard" said a german!

This match made a difference because there was friends made and no killing! it was a day off from fighting and dieing, it was funner then fighting. this idea was a good idea!
